ok so whilst adam greig was successful because he used a camera sensor that could be brought down to a 6mhz clock rate, the $3 part we've sourced won't go below 12mhz. so, we have to upgrade to an STM32F207VCT6, which has DCMI (camera sensor) support built-in, amazingly.
so, this *almost* concludes the set of hardware testing for the flying squirrel.
