Hi,
5" LCD resolution 800x480 working for EOMA. Details here http://www.gplsquared.com/eoma_boot/eoma_boot.html#eoma_with_5inch_lcd These displays are about $16 from Aliexpress: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/5inch-5-TFT-LCD-LCM-RGB-800-480-Display-TOUCH...
I still notice a problem with color - Red and Blue appear to be swapped.
I'm busy making a Cubieboard2 test jig to put the LCD on so I can wire up the resistive panel to the A20 CPU and get that going. By then I will also be able to cross check which wire(s) are not correct. (If you are building LCD or video projects around EOMA, check the wiring for red/blue are OK first.)

ok. the specification's going to have to change. we cannot modify the CPU Card, so the spec has to be changed to match the card. what a pain.

Even more pain - the $16 5" 800x480 displays have in the last 3 days ALL been cleaned out of ALL Aliexpress stores. They are now between $30 and $45 - more than the price of 7" tablets!!!. The ones that appear to cost $20 odd are the low resolution 480x272 5" that look similar and/or don't have the touch sensor fitted.
Sheesh!!
These displays are worth less than $14 from factories.
(If enough people wants to join in, we can join orders into a bulk purchase with help from my friends in CN. After bulk purchase to get good price, they can dispatch to different addresses from their warehouse.)
I am also going to switch to getting the 7" size working - a lot harder to empty the shelves of that any time soon! :) And then put some KDE plasma on it :) :)

Joe, can you clarify. Was this an issue with the Data Sheet for the LCD or an issue with the EOMA-68 spec?

To save time, I wired up a second jig with cubieboard to liven up LCD+touch panel and will soon compare EOMA with Cubie. http://www.gplsquared.com/eoma_boot/eoma_boot.html#working_lcd (scroll to bottom).

scott. joe is not responsible for the EOMA68 specification: i am.
this tells you everything that you need to know: http://elinux.org/index.php?title=Embedded_Open_Modular_Architecture%2FEOMA-...
check the date, and check the diff. you'll find that the date matches the timestamps of the list archives, and you'll find that the diff does what i said needed to be done, joe having spotted a discrepancy.
i said that the specification needed to be altered to reflect reality so what has happened? the spec has been altered to reflect reality.

Luke, I've been involved on this list for a year and half. That is quite clear and I wasn't implying that Joe was in charge of the spec.
What I was asking is for some additional details about the nature of the problem. Was it just an issue with the specific LCD, or with the way the RGB TTL lines labeled in the EOMA-68 spec. This is not clear from Joe's post.
If it was worked out off list (which is implied in another thread), so be it.

That's fine. Excuse me for taking an interest on an issue that is now clearly resolved.

Yes, I'd not caught up with the other thread when I posted. Moving on.

the changes made to the spec make it clear.

I wire a up cubieboard 1 (the original batch that were sold when they launched) and found same colour problems.
Its unlikely that I got miswire on both cubieboard and EOMA. This is sounding more like a script.fex problem or something less obvious.
Both systems are working at the same time beside each other in the same way. So the source of the problem is common in some way.
