the mendel90 printer is working really well, and was absolutely worth it to use for prototyping of casework. the 7in tablet project is now being done as an open hardware project, under the GPLv3+. files are available at http://hands.com/~lkcl/eoma/kde_tablet
with a preliminary casework finished that has been prepared in conjunction with the pcb layout, work can proceed to finalise the pcb and then send it off for assembly. there are a couple of risky areas on the tablet pcb, due to datasheets and app notes simply not being available: the usb audio and the usb camera IC. these are a CM108AH and a Vi Micro VC0345 respectively. perhaps prior to sending off this PCB it may be worthwhile tracking down small USB devices with those chipsets in, in order to inspect them and check their PCB layout.
however if anyone already _has_ a USB audio dongle with a CM108AH or a USB camera with a VC0345 chipset please do say so as i would greatly appreciate some hi-res photos of the PCB, both sides.

Luke, I have a Plantronics USB Audio dongle, don't recall model # offhand. Is there a way to determine the chipset easily without cracking the case?
I'd send you a picture but I, er, can't find one on Google Images. LOL.

Cracked it open, out of curiosity. It's a Micronas UAC-3556B. Probably counterfeit, given the SimSun style font on the chip. LOL.
I can send you photos if it would help somehow, but it's definitely not what you're looking for.
The Plantronics dongle is a "USB DSP v2", for the record.

:)
i need something with a CM108AH.... but ironically it's possible to find the datasheet and app notes for the UAC3556B... or whatever it is. hmmm... when did you buy that dongle?

I don't know when it was originally purchased. I got it secondhand. Don't need it anymore... if you're willing to cover postage to wherever you are (I'm in the US, North Carolina) I'll send it to you.

i'll keep it in mind, i want to try to stick with the CM108AH for now as the datasheets are publicly available.

I found this datasheet with duckduckgo: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/datasheets/CM108AH.pdf
and with google: http://www.stet.com.cn/%E4%B8%AD%E6%98%9F%E5%BE%AE%E8%A7%86%E9%A2%91%E8%8A%A...

yes, me too, here: http://hands.com/~lkcl/eoma/kde_tablet/VC0345TLNA-1102-V10-EN.pdf and http://hands.com/~lkcl/eoma/kde_tablet/CM108_DataSheet_v1.6.pdf and i also found an app note for the VC0345: http://hands.com/~lkcl/eoma/kde_tablet/VC0345_app_notes.pdf
i believe i even also found someone who had released ORCAD schematics for the CM108AH (looks that way from the list of files here http://hands.com/~lkcl/eoma/kde_tablet/)
but i would preferr to have something actually in my hands, or close-up hi-res photos, as i can then be much more confident that i have a decent layout.
