That is a great post: very comprehensive, very readable. It gives people the opportunity to actually understand a bit more about just about all of the factors involved.

P.S. Sadly, I think some people don't want to understand and/or think we all have enough cash lying around to fund competitive silicon ourselves and/or do endless respins of the concept with their favourite processor of the moment, as if it were some kind of rich man's hobby as opposed to being a genuine initiative to further Free Software and libre hardware adoption.
