i've been introduced to a really good team, who are definitely on the ball, we're going through parts-sourcing for them with their favourite suppliers, already, i've only just met them 1/2 a day ago. this in contrast to "um we'll get back to you" and 4 months later still waiting.
so *finally* we should have results (quotes), that means being able to move on the crowd-funding for the micro-desktop.

They sound awesome. Are you able to share names?

Have they said anything about integration with and/or support for KiCad?

i'm not going to ask them, they're very busy, and KiCAD is something i cannot work for these complex projects, with due to numerous bugs and the lack of "built-in checking". i rely heavily on creating groups (power lines for example), setting detailed design rules on each group, so that i do not have to check every single one of thousands of connections round hundreds of components.
once these complex boards are out of the way and i have time and the financial luxury to invest in KiCAD i'll come back to it.

just uploading some files now (nice system, not "please email me everything", it's properly managed) and they have options "eagle" and "kicad". no PADS or Altium though :)

well this is actually really awesome. we now have the gerber and BOM uploaded, normally the supported file formats would run automated scripts and everything would be auto-generated, however this time because using PADS we had to extract some info manually.
that having been done i can now edit the BOM online, see the PCB layers online (and upload replacements), including zoom - it's really impressive. and hasn't taken very long to get set up.
we also found a VB script to generate the pick/place robot instructions, making their job easier as well.
