based on AllWinner A20 CPU + 2 GB RAM ! Should be good ! (I hope it will run Debian-ARM with KDE and Android just fine) Have ordered one to see how it goes.
Previous efforts were either too weak (VIA APC) or lacked I/O ports. (Cubieboard, Riko MK802, ...) or both (Raspberry pi). I believe It's the first system that's good. First sub- $100 PC !

The Cubietruck has RAM chips with "GT" branding. Where from ? Samsung or Elpida or Kingston ? Never heard of "GT" RAM chips.

they're a very successful low-cost very fast china-made brand. they're typically dual-die (i.e. two lots of 8-bit-wide DDR3 ICs in the same package) i *think* i'm right in saying that the 1333mhz x16 ICs are cheaper than using 2 of everyone else's 800mhz x16 ICs.

GT is company name and GT's RAM is always sold out even in the China electronics markets. I ended up buying Hynix.
Why sold out? Is it much cheaper than hynix or Samsung or other brands RAM of same capacity? On Oct 17, 2013 10:23 PM, "joem" joem@martindale-electric.co.uk wrote:

I pre-ordered x 2.
I think the 2GB RAM is going to make a massive difference to desktop usage of this kind of machine.
When I get the cubietruck, I make a new brick computer case for that.
Designs for laser cut cases here for cubieboard with 2.5" hard disk to make a handy brick size computer running Ubuntu 13.04 desktop Linux with 3D acceleration: http://www.gplsquared.com/eoma_boot/eoma_boot.html#cubie_sata_brick
When I get the MEB2, I make a new brick computer case for the EOMA+MEB2.
When LCD is made working, I'll make another case with a flip top that has the LCD embedded inside it so that it will look and function exactly like a handy luggable cute brick computer.
The CN guys have found some PCMCIA but have been hit with a MOQ of 500. I get the price and then decide. Still can't start MEB designs until I got me some cheap PCMCIA that can be reliably sourced.

Why people order x2 ? You will give one to friend ? Or you wanna run one with Android and other with desktop Linux ? Or two rooms (@_@) ?
