crowdfunding update

hiya folks, ok so just a quick update: aross, i noticed the huuge number of social media and forums that you were on last week, really really appreciated. chris havel, thank you again for the artwork. after over 10 days, two key discussions are still ongoing which is great - trisquel and phoronix. the trisquel one's very supportive, the phoronix one is a very interesting free-for-all :) i'm beginning to get overloaded and it's affecting my health, so i am going to need to be a leetle more careful, i don't want communications to be adversely affected because i'm overloaded, so have put in motion some exercises / routines to deal with that (lots of relaxation). we've got a couple of articles coming up soon with major publications. more are needed. mostly, i just want to say thank you to everyone who's been helping out. l. --- crowd-funded eco-conscious hardware: https://www.crowdsupply.com/eoma68

crowd funding updates

hiya folks, ok so we're at 12% now which on a linear line basically still just puts us on target *just* within the campaign's time limit, and assuming the same numbers are pledged we'd be looking at 500 CPU Cards, 275 microdesktops and 140 laptops. which is not bad at all. we would juuust about be ok with that because some of the critical components (the PCMCIA socket for example) are shared between the microdesktop and laptop PCBs, and 500 computer cards is _great_, that would make a factory comfortable to do those kinds of quantities. ... that's assuming that it doesn't go nuts over the next few weeks and we hit 2500+ easily. i need to write this up as an update #3 oh btw are people following these? https://www.crowdsupply.com/eoma68/micro-desktop/updates l. --- crowd-funded eco-conscious hardware: https://www.crowdsupply.com/eoma68

Enlightenment DE?

I believe it works without 3d accel but the latest release is about using wayland so im not so sure what the direct its going nor about its current no 3d accel usage? played with it on my laptop, with the menu app window thingy it makes for a gnome-shell alike experience :). I think the desktop could even be replaced with a cool menu thingy... i forget... If ya can get it working, despite the other 1000s of other jobs ya got, it might make for a cool picture/video of a more modem, fancy DE running on it ;) if it was in the repo when/after they ship, me thinks its gonna be the first thing i install :D

Getting the word out

Greetings all, I have been trying to help get the word out about the crowdfunding campaign the past few days and I am thinking that the crowdfunding campaign should probably be brought to the attention of the following people/groups: * Linux Action Show (podcast) http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/ The Linux Action Show guys, did have some quantity of discussion in the past (perhaps during their crowdfunding) and after release did finally do reviews of both the Purism Librem 13 and 15 laptops. I'm not 100% sure but, they seem idealistic enough that they might be willing to talk at some length on the project or perhaps even better, talk about the project and maybe even be willing to do an interview with Luke or Chris. Anyhow, their podcast is pretty solid and is done on pretty much a weekly basis from what I can tell. So check it out and if you think it's a good avenue to take, please contact them and see if they can help raise awareness of your project sooner, rather than later. * Linux Voice (magazine) https://www.linuxvoice.com/ I may be biased in saying that I think this is the best Linux magazine but, I'm going to go ahead and say it anyhow. This magazine got its start from a crowdfunding campaign itself (indiegogo). While it might be a large challenge to try and actually get a mention within their magazine (though that would have the best effect by far), they do also produce a blog and a monthly podcast (all of which would help raise visibility of the project). At this point, I'm thinking that honestly I'm not the best person to contact these groups and try to get things started but, I want to bring these ideas to the attention of the list. If there is somebody else out there who thinks that trying to contact these groups is a good idea then by all means, contact them and I hope they give this project some airtime.
